Luckett’s Holiday Open House ’18

This is the 2nd year in a row that I’ve made the trek to Leesburg’s The Old Lucketts Store  to start my Holiday season off on the right foot.

We made sure to be there on day 1 of the festivities so we could get the full experience of all of the vendors’ displays and to take in all of that fairytale goodness. The Lucketts team really knows how to bring on that full holiday high that you’ve been waiting for since last Christmas.

SO. MANY. DISPLAYS.

Just about anywhere you look there is a photo opportunity.

Of course it was a overcast, cold, and rainy day. Is it even consider a Lucketts event without a little bit of rain? But that didn’t stop us! There were treasures to be discovered and we were on the hunt.

Our first instinct was to head inside the store and everyone else must have had the same idea because it was shoulder-to-shoulder PACKED.

After about 20 mins of wiggling through that mess we ventured back outside to see if we could find some vendor friends.

We had to find Chelsey, owner of A Cozy House, who is one of my favorite people to see at these markets. Her finds and inventory is some of the best and her prices are affordable at any budget. She always has beautiful displays and is stocked with awesome ironstone pieces to drool over.

Emily, my shopping partner, fell in love with these two salvaged mirrors and decided to bring them home.

Chelsey usually does the Lucketts Spring Market as well, so if yo missed her this season you still have a chance see her in May ’19.

There is a bunch of little outside alcoves to explore on the grounds of Lucketts’ and there are a bunch of little buildings that have amazing finds and displays that are always being changed.

After we had our fill of shopping, hot cider and crab cakes, we picked up our treasures and made a last minute stop at the Naked Goat Soup Company’s trailer before heading home.

MY PURCHASES

I was reflecting on my Lucketts’ stash when I got home Friday evening and was shocked to find that I didn’t purchase a single piece of ironstone but here is what I did leave with.

An Antique Trunk

It is a cool mix of wood, embossed leather, and metal. I’ve seen these in smaller scale and have always wanted one but this bigger one seems more practical for extra storage.

Wool U.S. Navy Medical Blanket

Vintage wool blankets are one of those things that if you’re not keeping an eye out for them when your out treasure hunting at your local honey holes then ya better start.  They are very collectable, very cozy and make great as accent throws. They can still be found for lower cost so hopefully you’ll be able to find a few.

Chippy Window Frames

I totally forgot to get the name of the shop owners that I purchased these three chippy window frames from but I appreciate them letting me have them for a good deal. I got two that were the same size and one that is slightly larger. I have plans for them but thats for another blog post.

(Purchased from a very sweet couple)

Vintage Rug

I am always on the hunt for vintage and antique rugs. I spied a few in a couple of different booths but Emily and I both agreed that this was the best one for me. It wasn’t intensional BUT it works perfectly with the rug I have under my kitchen island. I had originally planned to use it for an upholstery project but it is too small so I’ll have to find a place for it to go.

It can be hard for me to turn off the resale side of my brain and I sometimes feel guilty if I buy something purely for me to enjoy. Even after I find a place that fits in our house I still have to fight off that reselling it urge. I plan on keeping all but one of the items I found at Lucketts but who knows how I’ll feel in a couple months!

Till next time Lucketts!
